Mandate
The core purpose for the CSEE is to focus on coordination and support of research and commercialization in energy and environment at the founding universities. This is grounded in the realization that technology innovation is critical to finding solutions to society's energy and environment challenges. Yet technology, engineering and science are only part of the solution. Discoveries in these domains have to be socially acceptable, meaning they must comply with regulations and standards that protect the health and safety of citizens and of the environment in general. The development and examination of solutions from the combined perspectives of natural sciences, engineering, business and social sciences is necessary for a prosperous and sustainable future.
The mandate of the Canada School of Energy and Environment is to:
| 1 |
Be a repository and a creator for knowledge on energy and environment with international influence and impact. |
||
| 2 |
Link research institutes, researchers, and students at the participating universities to undertake cutting-edge research on energy and environment. |
||
| 3 |
Facilitate the development of commercial technologies. |
||
| 4 |
Serve as a resource for policy and industry leaders in their decision-making processes. |
||
| 5 |
Stimulate discussion regionally, nationally and internationally among researchers and decision-makers to guide and inform public policy on energy and environment issues. |
